Indie Film Week in Kendall Hall Screening Room

The Communication Studies Department’s Visiting Filmmaker Series will continue this week with two thought-provoking and entertaining independent features by area filmmakers at the new Kendall Hall Screening Room (Kendall 125).

On Thursday, September 18 at 6:00PM, TCNJ alum Matt Lawrence will screen his first feature film, “Two Pints Lighter.”   Shot on location in Asbury Park, New Jersey, “Two Pints Lighter” is a surreal, subversive comedy about a bespectacled guy who drinks too much, bites women, and has an insatiable taste for blood.  This quirky vampire comedy showcases the music of indie bands like Rogue Wave, The Antlers, The Bouncing Souls, Let It Burn, Big Wilson River, and many more. Winner of the “Home Grown Feature Award” at the Garden State Film Festival, the film has also been featured at the Indie Spirit Film Festival and the Pawtucket Film Festival.

On Friday, September 19th at 3:00PM, Indie Film Week continues with Dan Cordle’s first feature, “Possession.”  The film tells the story of a young woman, played by Texas filmmaker Amy Selmetz, who inherits land after the sudden and unexpected death of her father.  With nothing to lose, she travels from New York to the middle of nowhere  to find an old shack filled with her father’s documents and a stranger with a peculiar interest in her land. Filmmaker Cordle previously worked in theater after receiving his M.F.A. from NYUs Graduate Acting program. “Possession” was shot on location in Merkel, Texas and was featured at the Lone Star Film Festival.

Each screening will be followed by a Q & A with the filmmaker and a reception in the lobby of Kendall Hall. All screenings are free and open to the public and campus community. For more information, please contact (609) 771-2107.
