Dr. Keli Steuber Fazio (Ph.D. Penn State, 2009) is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Communication Studies and Public Health. She teaches courses on interpersonal and lifespan communication, conflict management, and leadership. With over 30 publications in outlets such as Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, Communication Monographs, Human Reproduction, and Family Issues, Dr. Fazio’s work is presented regularly at national and international conferences. Her recent research focuses on communication and social support related to contexts such as infertility, postpartum depression, women’s leadership, and immigration.
Dr. Fazio is one of the founding advisors for Project EmpowHer (www.projectempowher.org), a TCNJ student-driven project that creates social media campaigns and plans events to educate college students on gender disparities in the workforce and offer communication strategies to combat them. Community engagement is a pivotal part of Dr. Fazio’s passions and is regularly integrated into her teaching and research. Currently, she serves as a Growth Consultant for Hold the Door for Others (www.holdthedoor.com), a nonprofit devoted to post-traumatic growth by helping individuals grow through adversity. She is also an ambassador for The Best Day of My Life So Far (www.bestdayofmylifesofar.com), a nonprofit whose mission is to combat older adult loneliness and increase intergenerational communication.
Dr. Fazio is trained by the Gottman Institute as a facilitator for the national workshop, Bringing Baby Home, which helps couples prepare and adjust to the transition to parenthood, and has completed Level 1 Training in the Gottman Methodology.
